Days out

Some of the many attractions in the area:

The National Trust property Arlington Court

(by car - approx 35 minutes)

The Big Sheep (by car - approx 16 minutes)

The Gnome Reserve (by car - approx 35 minutes)

Exmoor National Park - one of Britain's breathing spaces.

Nesting puffins on Lundy

For those wanting a real day out, away from the crowds, why not visit Lundy the little island in the Bristol Channel that in Norse means "Puffin Island". Lundy is owned by the National Trust and managed by the Landmark Trust, and can be visited for the day, or stayed over in a variety of unique self-catering properties. The boat trip takes about 2 hours each way and most of the year the sailings are from Ilfracombe, though sometimes from Bideford.
